Badia Olive Oil received the Gold Medal in the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) in April 2015. Billed as “The World’s Most Important Olive Oil Competition”, there were more than 700 participants from over 24 countries.
Badia Extra-Virgin Olive Oil is described by the NYIOOC as “a robust blend from Spain featuring aromas of green fruit, green grass, almond and notes of eucalyptus, red fruits, pepper. Taste exhibits abundant fruitiness, green grass, some sweetness, bitterness, medium pungency and notes of tomato, with exceptional harmony, a high complexity and a high persistence.”
As the premier international olive oil event, NYIOOC draws the most renowned judges — the very top tasters from every region — to scrutinize, one by one, every entry in order to definitively declare the Best Olive Oils in the World.
A record number of entries from dozens of countries were judged at the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil quality competition IN April 2015 in New York, USA.
Despite one of the most challenging harvest seasons in recent memory, 671 olive oils competed at the third annual New York International Olive Oil Competition.
Spain took home the most awards with 73, followed by Italy with 43. United States won 38 awards. 18 olive oil brands were awarded the Best in Class distinction.
