Bahamas Food Services, Ltd. (BFS), formerly known as Island Sea Food (ISF), has been operating in the Bahamas since 1971, and is broadly regarded today, as the largest food distributor based in the Bahamas. BFS has moved from its roots, servicing New Providence Island restaurants to servicing both the foodservice and retail sectors in the Bahamas. Bahamas Food Services, Ltd. employs more than 300 residents of the Bahamas and is one of the largest purchaser and purveyor of local agricultural and local seafood products. BFS is a very strong broad-line distributor with over 9000 different items in stock, supplying fresh and frozen meats, fresh produce, dairy products, processed foods, beverages, chemicals, paper, and restaurant equipment. BFS is the exclusive distributor for Tropicana, Frosty Acres, Island Queen, Blue Ribbon rice, America Fresh detergent and numerous other local and international brands. BFS customers include retail outlets and convenience stores, resorts, hotels, private clubs, restaurants, hospitals, government facilities and related organizations, yachts and shipboard crews.

The current BFS facility (pictured below) was completed in the summer of 2000. This state-of-the-art, 160,000 square foot complex is located on almost 20 acres and designed for rapid expansion if and when necessary. The complex consists of 4 climate controlled produce and meat refrigerated rooms, as well as a massive, high racked, general commodity freezer. In addition, the complex houses the entire executive, sales, and operations staff, a fully equipped test kitchen, a meat cutting room, a supplies and equipment showroom and the maintenance management offices . Adjacent to the main facility is a vehicle maintenance and fueling facility. Extensive truck and vehicle parking surrounds the storage facility accommodating the employee and customer parking needed on a daily basis as well as space for the delivery fleet. The facility is self-sufficient making its own water and the backup-power generation utilities serve to protect the perishable products stored here in the event of an emergency. When building the facility, every concern that a customer might have about food safety, service and convenience was designed into the 19 acre complex so that we could properly fill our role as Supplier to the Nation and preserve jobs for our employees well into the future.
