Jenifer Bound was a student at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism when she won a competition sponsored by Badia and hosted at her school. The idea was to “promote innovation and entrepreneurship concepts to students”, and Jenifer won gold with her “Holy Smokes Pork & Meat Rub” blended spice mixture in the fall of 2013.

A few months later, FOOD & WINE magazine hosted the annual Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival in Miami, Florida. Badia and Jenifer launched the Holy Smokes rub at the festival, and Jenifer ended up with a $5000 scholarship plus a percentage of international sales to be donated to her alma mater, the Chaplin School.

The Badia Holy Smokes Pork and Meat Rub is now distributed at local grocery stores and retailers such as Publix and various wholesale companies. Bahamas Food Services is the local distributor for Badia Spices, and you can speak to your rep about sampling or ordering this innovative new product.
