Sysco Bahamas Food Services, Ltd., known in The Bahamas as “BFS”, is the largest wholesale food distributer in The Bahamas, servicing customers throughout the country with the finest foodservice and grocery products.

Located in the capital city of Nassau on the island of New Providence, Sysco Bahamas delivers products by truck six days per week to major resorts, hotels, restaurants and institution and ships to more than 20 islands and cays of The Bahamas using mailboat and air-freight services. Almost 400 people are employed at Sysco Bahamas, selling 10,000 products in 12 categories to more than 2000 customers. Our state-of-the-art facility sits on 20 acres of land and is designed for anticipated growth, currently featuring a 200,000 square foot warehouse plus offices and other working spaces. Shipments are received via ocean freight from our purchasing offices at Sysco International Food Group in Jacksonville, Florida and then shipped out to our retail, foodservice and export markets.

Bahamas Food Services was purchased by the Sysco Corporation in April 2013, changing the company name to Sysco Bahamas Food Services, and is still known colloquially as BFS.

Company Profile & History

A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sysco Corporation, the company commonly known as Bahamas Food Services, Ltd. (BFS) has been operating in the Bahamas since 1973.

Bahamas Food Services was formerly known as Island Sea Food (ISF), mainly buying and distributing seafood and meat items throughout Nassau. In June 2000, the company changed its name to Bahamas Food Services and added a range of products to further service its foodservice and retail customers with reliable delivery. Bahamas Food Services then acquired the largest distributor of fresh produce at that time, Prime Bahamas in the year 2010 and began offering customers fresh local and imported produce weekly.

In 2012, the Sysco Corporation purchased Bahamas Food Services and took over operations in April of 2013. As BFS was already a successful company featuring state-of-the-art facilities, modern warehouse and sales distribution technological solutions and a full fleet of delivery trucks, the Sysco team was able to simply enhance the current operation. This meant improvements in the scope of product offerings, employee benefits, systems, operations and a facility renovation project that started in 2018.

Sysco Bahamas Food Services is now the largest food distributor based in the Bahamas, serving all major islands and many small and private cays. Worldwide, Sysco operates approximately 330 distribution facilities and serves more than 600,000 customer locations in 90 countries. International Operating Companies (OpCos) outside the U.S. and Canada are located in the Bahamas, Ireland, Costa Rica, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Spain, Luxembourg, Panama and Belgium.

Sysco International Food Group (IFG) assists BFS with product procurement, Sysco-branded products and shipping to The Bahamas and regional OpCos and other distributors. As the export specialty division of Sysco, many stores tied to over 30 U.S. based restaurant chains and franchises also rely on IFG to deliver their brand and unique customer experience to consumers in over 90 countries.

As an official Sysco Opco, Sysco Bahamas delivers to both Retail and Foodservice customers throughout the islands of The Bahamas. Locally focused, our broadline company is able to provide the hands-on customer service that sets us apart. Sysco Bahamas provides a wide variety of both food and non-food products at unbeatable prices to our customers.

Sales at Sysco Bahamas is divided into departments:

FOODSERVICE Nassau-based customers including independent and chain restaurants, institutions, healthcare and educational facilities. hotels and resorts, private clubs, caterers, hospitals, government facilities and related organizations, yachts and shipboard crews.

The Sales Team is supported by the Business Resources Department that includes Marketing, Brand Management, Specialists, Business Development and our Corporate Chef.

RETAIL CUSTOMERS We service retail customer outlets such as grocery store, food stores, convenience stores, gas stations and similar locations throughout Nassau.

OUT ISLAND SALES A dedicated sales team for both foodservice and retail accounts in the Family Islands, providing delivery via mailboat or air freight to most islands and cays in The Bahamas. We have sales reps and delivery on the islands of Exuma, Eleuthera and Grand Bahamas. Other islands are visited periodically by their assigned sales reps and support staff.

WHOLESALE PICKUP Sysco Bahamas offers cash and carry sales to small businesses, caterers, groups, organisations and any others ordering by the wholesale case, with or without an account.

PERSONAL ACCOUNTS Sysco Bahamas has a growing Home Delivery service, along with personal pickup accounts serviced through our cash & carry Wholesale Pickup sales department.

Account holders are provided access to our online shopping portal, Sysco Shop.

Our original house brands include Cardinal Cream, Lucky Canned Seafood, Bahama Brand and Island Queen canned and frozen foods.
