Sysco Bahamas recognises the responsibility of the corporate sector in assisting the community, and for us, that means food, food and more food. There are several local organisations making a huge difference in keeping their communities motivated and fed and Sysco Bahamas has been happy to reach out and assist where needed.
Recently, a team from Sysco Bahamas hand delivered frozen and dry foods to the Bain Grants Town Advancement Association, working alongside the Bahamas Feeding Network to support their feeding and food distribution programs. The “Singing Bishop” was on hand to receive food donations that could be easily used to prepare hot meals for the local community to enjoy, and expressed joy at the restaurant-quality foodservice products.
Items donated by Sysco Bahamas included chicken, turkey sausage, pork sausage, beef meatballs, pulled pork, corned beef hash, rice, bread, pasta, flatbread, beans & peas, butter, canned peaches, canned tomatoes, frozen diced potatoes as well as fresh produce, limes and disposable serviceware.
The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 and 2021 has dramatically affected the economies of countries worldwide. The Bahamas as a nation depends heavily on tourism as its primary industry, and severe travel restrictions, lockdowns and closure of many businesses and institutions has been hardest felt by the most vulnerable and under-privileged. In these trying times, formerly hard-working people have had to join the ranks of those in needs of the basics such as food, shelter and basic subsistence. Every business and individual in The Bahamas has felt the negative effects of the pandemic, and Sysco Bahamas has been at the forefront of humanitarian efforts to reach out and lend a helping hand to the residents of The Bahamas. Much respect goes out to the charitable organisations, other corporate donors, the government and our staff at Sysco Bahamas for their hard work and dedication to keeping The Bahamas safe and fed as we all weather the storm together.

The Bain & Grant’s Town Association is a community organisation that works in the “Over the Hill” low-income areas of Nassau to empower and assist those in need. Operating for more than 30 years, this group serves hot breakfast, lunch and dinner at various outlets such as churches and Meals On Wheels, and also distributes food packages for pickup, spearheads projects like clean-up drives, book distribution, backyard farming, animal care and youth initiatives.
Bahamas Feeding Network was formed in 2013 by 13 organizations after decades of individually tackling the hunger crisis in The Bahamas, who all came together to form The Bahamas National Feeding Network (BNFN). The aim of the non-profit group is to perform as a hub for the collection and distribution of food items and financial and physical resources to those who need it most.
Sysco Bahamas Food Services, Ltd., known in The Bahamas as “BFS”, is the largest wholesale food distributer in The Bahamas, servicing customers throughout the country with the finest foodservice and grocery products.
